Fri-YAY Faves!

It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Fri-YAY! Gettin’ down on Fri-YAY! Everyone’s looking forward to the weekend!

Another fun fact: I tend to use song lyrics or movie quotes in everyday conversations. If you don’t have the song or movie memorized, you probably think I’m crazy or wondering what I’m talking about. Or at least that’s what usually happens.

So on Friday’s on want to highlight a personal favorite of mine. It could be anything – beauty product, handbag, food,  pet – you just never know!

Today’s fave : Dr. Denese Hydroshield Ultra Moisturizing Facial Serum. This stuff is freaking amazing. I’ve never found anything that moisturizers so well. I put this on right after cleansing, morning and night. I let it ‘dry’ for 5’ish minutes, then apply my moisturizer over that. It truly does plump fine lines and basically makes then disappear. You can use it around the eye area. A few drops is all it takes, so the bottle will last forever. I’m obsessed with this stuff, people! This probably wouldn’t be great for oily skin, but as I age, my skin gets drier and drier. I found discovered it by accident early last fall in a QVC Beauty Tube that I purchased (more on that later). I’m not sure how I will like it in the heat of July/August, but last winter it was HEAVEN!

Here are the ingredients: Dimethicone, Glycine Soja (Soybean Seed Extract), Ceramides, Retinol, Tocopherol, Linoleic Acid, Linolinic Acid, Octyl (Ethylhexyl) Cocoate, Lecithin, Glycolipids, Phenoxyethanol

Have a great weekend!

An unexpected treat!

So my original plan for today was to write a little blurb introducing myself. Looking back, I didn’t do such a swell job of that in my first post. But then I came across something that I immediately had to share. IMMEDIATELY!

As I told you previously, we are moving. So with that comes de-cluttering. I, for one, do not want to move anything that I don’t have to. If I don’t love it or it doesn’t bring me joy, it’s going in the donate pile or the trash. One thing I haven’t told you yet…because I haven’t told you anything is that I’m a collector. Or as some would say, a hoarder. But an organized hoarder, thank you very much. I also love me some magazines. Give me a magazine about ANYTHING and I’ll read it. I used to save every. single. magazine that I got, but quickly realized that had to come to an end. So now I rip out the good stuff (recipes, exercises, products to try, etc – like old-fashioned pinterest!) and throw it away as soon as I’m done. Then I file what I ripped out and don’t ever look at it again. HA! But I have it, just in case! So right now I have a GIANT stack of mags in my office that I haven’t gotten to in the past few months. I’m on a mission to read and trash them BEFORE I move. I’m not freakin’ moving magazines! So moving on to my actual point…

This afternoon I was quickly flipping through a mag that (IMO) is mostly ads with very little content (cough, cough, InStyle, cough) planning to toss it. I came upon a little sample of foundation tucked away in there. Hmmm, interesting. I ripped it out. Then I decided to put on a little make up before Mr. SummerTime got home. I’m sure he gets tired of seeing me with no make up on most days. Another tidbit – I work from home at my real. day time, grown up job – something else you might know about me if I had properly introduced myself. Any-who, most days I sit around bare-faced and in yoga pants. So back to my story. I looked down and thought that since I wasn’t planning to do a full face of make up since I wasn’t really going anywhere, I’d use up that sample. Mr. SummerTime couldn’t tell the difference if I took 10 minutes expertly applying it with three foundation brushes or if I slapped it on with my fingers. So I did just that. BUT THE MINUTE I DOTTED IT ON AND STARTED RUBBING IT IN, I WAS LIKE, OHEMMMGEEE! What is this stuff???

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua I’m not even going to try to pronounce it, but it is fantastic! To be honest, I’ve never tried any of the Chanel foundations, but now I’m wondering what else is out there? What else have I missed?

This foundation is so light but the coverage is SO GOOD! This color (30 Beige) wasn’t horrible on me, but before I invest in a full size, I definitely want to get matched. It blended perfectly even with just my fingers. The SPF 15 is a nice bonus! I used the tiniest bit and it literally spread like butter. I didn’t even take the time to use a primer, because again, I wasn’t doing my full routine. “Skin Perfecting” is right, sir! I’m IN LOVE! The website calls it a hybrid fluid. I’m not sure what it is a hybrid between, but I’ll take it! It comes in 10 (lovely, I’m sure) shades and is $47, which is a typical price point ($50-ish) for a luxury brand foundation.

Here’s the bad news: There are no stores that sell Chanel nearby my semi-small town. I’ve got an Ulta and a JCP mini-Sephora. Oh and a scaled down Macys. So I’m gonna have to wait until I can get to the nearest big city to try out the shades. Although, on the Chanel website, it does say complimentary returns… click the picture above for the link because I’m new at this and that’s the only way I could get it to work.

**Disclaimers:

1. This was way too long. Sorry. And thanks if you are still reading this.

2. Chanel OBVIOUSLY didn’t pay me to write this. Ha, I wish. The opinions are my own and I ripped this sample out of my own magazine to which I subscribe. Although, I did not pay for the subscription. I got it free by using my American Airlines miles because I’m not cool enough to accumulate the number of miles needed to actually redeem them for a ticket. So I fly a couple of times a year and get a solicitation to “hurry and use my miles before they expire” through Mags for Miles and end up with a billion magazines.

Here I go again on my own…

Do you have that rockin’ 80’s hit stuck in your head now? I do! But since I now have started and failed stopped three blogs (that I can think of, off the top of my head) it felt like the appropriate theme song. So here’s to number four. Why do I think it will be a charm, you ask? Because I have the desire to write. I have the desire to share what I know/learn/try even when I fail. And the first three attempts were WAY too specific to keep going or even hold MY interest and I was the one writing the content.

My dreams to start a blog go back two years. At that time, I SWORE I wouldn’t jump onto the bandwagon that was “lifestyle” blogging. There are millions of them out there, guys. Why would you want to read mine? How would anyone even find mine? So I tried to find a niche (or two) and as you read up there^^, they were so specific I couldn’t keep it up. So here we are. June 2015. My birthday month (#38. As in NUMBER 38, not HASHTAG 38). New blog – a Spinkle of SummerTime. A sprinkle because you are going to see a little bit of randomness like, well, SPRINKLES! And SummerTime because that’s me. This is where I can share whatever I want!

My first passion is beauty and style. I’ll be sharing A LOT about navigating these years that are the late thirties. It’s tough! Skin changes, body changes and, can I still wear this or am I trying to look like a teenager type stuff.  I’ve had to totally revamp my skin care and make up in the last few years! With the late-thirties comes METABOLISM changes…so I’m on a constant quest to eat better and be more fit, but don’t expect much from that area…I’m a wee bit inconsistent. I also love to cook and bake, so expect to see some recipes. Mr. SummerTime and I LOVE to do projects around the house. In a few weeks, we are moving to a new (to us) house just down the street from our current home. There will be lots of renovations and make-overs coming! We also love to travel, so I’ll be sharing my trip recommendations too. See? I have way too much to say and can’t stick to a niche. So welcome to a Sprinkle of SummerTime. I hope you’ll stick around with me in this adventure we call life! ❤
